The UK crime thriller This City is Ours is finally crossing the Atlantic. AMC+ has dropped the official trailer for the series, making it available for US audiences starting March 5, 2026. Originally streaming last year on BBC One, the show has already earned praise as “marvelous & witty,” offering a gripping blend of mobster intrigue, family drama, and high-stakes power struggles.
The story revolves around Liverpudlian crime boss Ronnie Phelan, played by Sean Bean, who wants to retire from his criminal empire after one final drug deal. But stepping away isn’t simple. His son Jamie (Jack McMullen) and longtime lieutenant Michael Kavanagh (James Nelson-Joyce) each see an opportunity to seize control. Ronnie’s new romantic relationship, meanwhile, becomes both motivation and liability, as personal and professional loyalties collide.
The series explores the fallout of ambition and legacy, chronicling a criminal family caught in open war over the city’s cocaine trade. Michael, torn between his loyalty, the life he’s building with partner Diana (Hannah Onslow), and the violent past that refuses to let go, must navigate a treacherous path where love may be the most dangerous gamble of all.
Alongside the leads, the ensemble cast includes Julie Graham, Laura Aikman, Kevin Harvey, Saoirse Monica Jackson, Mike Noble, Bobby Schofield, Darci Shaw, and Stephen Walters. Created and co-written by Stephen Butchard and Robbie O’Neill, the series is directed by Saul Dibb, John Hayes, and Eshref Reybrouck, and produced by Simon Maloney under Left Bank Pictures.
For US audiences, this marks an opportunity to catch one of the UK’s most compelling modern mob dramas, now streaming on AMC+. Fans of high-stakes crime, complex family dynamics, and morally tangled characters won’t want to miss it.
