Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for Bait, a sharp and hilarious new comedy series created by, co-written by, and starring Riz Ahmed. The series, which premiered earlier this year at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, is set to stream worldwide starting March 25th, 2026.
In Bait, Riz Ahmed plays Shah Latif, a struggling actor on the cusp of what could either be his career-defining role or the final opportunity to prove himself. Over the course of four chaotic days, Shah finds himself spiraling into an existential crisis while navigating a swirl of conspiracy theories, family drama, and media buzz. The show cleverly plays on real-life rumors, teasing whether Shah might be considered for the role of James Bond—though the series keeps viewers guessing whether it’s reality or just talk.
Joining Riz Ahmed in the cast are Guz Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Sajid Hasan, Aasiya Shah as “Q”, Weruche Opia, and Ritu Arya. Their performances add both comedic chaos and heartfelt moments as Shah’s life unravels under the intense spotlight of public speculation.
The series is showrun by Ben Karlin alongside Riz Ahmed, with writing credits shared among Riz Ahmed, Azam Mahmood, and Prashanth Venkataramanujam. Episodes are directed by Tom George and Bassam Tariq, who previously collaborated with Ahmed on Mogul Mowgli.
Bait blends sharp satire with meta-humor, exploring fame, ambition, and the absurdity of Hollywood rumors through the lens of a character who’s simultaneously everyman and celebrity-in-waiting. Riz Ahmed’s performance promises a mix of charm, vulnerability, and comedic timing as Shah navigates the highs and lows of potential stardom.
The full series will be available for streaming globally on Prime Video starting March 25th, 2026, offering audiences a fresh, witty, and chaotic ride through the blurred lines of ambition and reality.
