Vertigo Releasing and Sunrise Films have unveiled the official trailer for Wasteman, a gripping indie thriller set in the claustrophobic confines of a UK prison. The film explores loyalty, survival, and moral dilemmas as inmates navigate a brutal and unforgiving system.
Wasteman follows Taylor, portrayed by David Jonsson, whose long-awaited parole is jeopardized when a violent new cellmate, Dee (Tom Blyth), arrives. As Dee draws Taylor into rivalries within the prison walls, a vicious attack forces Taylor to make an impossible choice: protect his unpredictable cellmate or safeguard his chances at freedom and reunite with his son.
The ensemble cast also includes Alex Hassell, Corin Silva, and Paul Hilton, each delivering performances that heighten the tension and emotional stakes of the story. With its tight storytelling and immersive setting, the film offers a raw portrait of prison life that tests every character’s moral limits.
Helmed by debut director Cal McMau, and written by Hunter Andrews and Eoin Doran, Wasteman promises a tense and uncompromising look at the human cost of survival behind bars. The film’s trailer already hints at the claustrophobic intensity and psychological complexity audiences can expect on the big screen.
Wasteman is slated for release on April 17, 2026, and with its high-stakes story and powerful performances, it’s poised to make a mark in British indie cinema.
