Maddock Films has added a special cinematic touch to this year's Dhanteras celebrations by bringing its upcoming film Eetha into the festive spotlight. The production house shared two striking posters from the film on social media, accompanied by the playful greeting, “Yeh Diwali, Eethawali! Wishing you all a Happy Dhanteras!” The clever wordplay immediately connects the film's title with the Diwali festivities, giving fans another reason to talk about this much-awaited project. Rather than opting for a regular festival greeting, Maddock Films found a fun way to celebrate the occasion while promoting its upcoming release.
The newly unveiled posters feature Shraddha Kapoor in a breathtaking traditional avatar that offers a glimpse into the film's grand visual world. Dressed in ornate ethnic attire and adorned with elaborate gold jewellery and a regal crown, the actress looks striking and powerful. The dramatic Himalayan mountain backdrop, beautifully framed by temple-inspired arches and glowing diyas, adds a spiritual and majestic atmosphere to the visuals. The combination of traditional Indian aesthetics, festive lighting and Shraddha's commanding appearance makes the posters particularly eye-catching. They also hint at the period setting and rich cultural atmosphere that audiences can expect from the film.
Titled Eetha, the upcoming Hindi biographical drama is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharma under the banners of Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations. The film features Shraddha Kapoor in the titular role of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra's celebrated Tamasha and Lavani performers. Her extraordinary journey forms the emotional heart of the story, bringing the life and artistic contribution of a remarkable woman to the big screen. The choice of subject also gives the film an opportunity to explore Maharashtra's traditional folk-performance culture and the challenges faced by women who dedicated their lives to preserving it.
For Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha represents an interesting opportunity to step into a character that demands more than just an impressive screen presence. Playing a legendary folk artist means capturing the energy, emotions, dedication and cultural significance associated with Lavani and Tamasha performances. The actress's transformation in the posters has already created curiosity among movie lovers, particularly those eager to see her in a completely different cinematic setting. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Siddharth Jadhav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anant Joshi. Veteran actor Nana Patekar is also associated with the project, adding further interest to its ensemble.
What makes Eetha particularly interesting is its connection to real-life events and Marathi literature. The film draws inspiration from incidents documented in the book Tamasha: Vithabaichya Ayushyacha, offering a foundation for bringing Vithabai's remarkable life to the screen. Her story is closely connected to Maharashtra's folk traditions, making the project more than just another star-driven Bollywood production. With Laxman Utekar at the helm and Dinesh Vijan backing the project, expectations are high for a film that combines powerful storytelling with impressive visuals and music rooted in Indian culture.
Eetha is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 4, 2026. Maddock Films' festive “Eethawali” greeting has certainly given the film an entertaining promotional moment, while the new posters have added to the excitement surrounding Shraddha Kapoor's transformation. As Diwali celebrations bring families together, the production house has cleverly used the festive spirit to introduce audiences to a story rooted in India's artistic heritage. Now, movie lovers will be looking forward to seeing how Shraddha brings Vithabai's inspiring journey to life on the big screen.
