The royal drama is officially back! Netflix India has delighted fans with an exciting update on its popular series The Royals, announcing that Season 2 has officially gone on floors. The streaming giant shared the news on social media on November 3, 2026, with a playful royal-themed caption that instantly caught viewers' attention. The post read, "Hukum, season 2 ki taiyaari ho jaaye? The Royals Season 2 is now filming!" Accompanied by new pictures featuring Ishaan Khatter and other cast members, the announcement has sparked fresh excitement among fans who have been waiting to return to the glamorous world of Morpur.
Ishaan Khatter is returning as Maharaj Aviraaj Singh, affectionately known as Fizzy, the charming yet complicated young royal at the centre of the story. The newly shared photographs offer a glimpse of his stylish new appearance, including a sharp beige suit that perfectly complements the show's luxurious royal aesthetic. Another picture features several cast members dressed in traditional Indian outfits, bringing back the grandeur, colourful costumes and royal atmosphere that became an important part of the first season. The presence of familiar faces, including veteran actress Zeenat Aman, has further increased curiosity about the upcoming instalment.
The first season of The Royals premiered on Netflix on May 9, 2025, introducing viewers to the fictional royal family of Morpur. The romantic comedy-drama revolved around Aviraaj Singh, a reluctant prince struggling to balance royal responsibilities with his personal ambitions, and Sophia, an ambitious entrepreneur played by Bhumi Pednekar. Their contrasting personalities, complicated relationship and the family's financial troubles created an entertaining mix of romance, comedy, drama and royal extravagance. The series also featured Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi and Zeenat Aman in important roles, adding plenty of star power to its ensemble cast.
Season 2 is expected to bring some interesting changes to the show's storyline and cast. According to media reports, Bhumi Pednekar will not be returning for the new season, while Sini Shetty and Gurfateh Pirzada are among the reported new additions. Their entry is expected to introduce fresh dynamics and potentially new romantic complications into the story. Meanwhile, Nora Fatehi, Zeenat Aman and Sakshi Tanwar are reportedly returning, ensuring that several familiar characters remain part of the royal family's journey. The combination of returning favourites and new faces could give the second season an exciting new direction.
Behind the camera, the upcoming season has reportedly experienced a few creative changes during its production journey. Reports suggest that director Jasmeet K. Reen exited the project after a brief involvement, followed by the departure of Mitakshara Kumar. Filmmaker Tanuj Chopra, known for his work on the acclaimed crime drama Delhi Crime, has reportedly joined the project. The production has also involved shooting schedules in Rajasthan, with locations including Jaipur and Jaisalmer adding to the show's royal visual appeal. These picturesque settings could once again play an important role in recreating the grandeur and atmosphere of Morpur.
With filming now officially announced by Netflix India, anticipation for The Royals Season 2 is steadily building. Although the streaming platform has not yet confirmed an official premiere date, the new season is expected to arrive in the second half of 2027 or later, depending on the production and post-production schedule. For now, Ishaan Khatter's return, the addition of fresh faces and the promise of more royal drama have given fans plenty to look forward to. The question is whether Aviraaj will find love, handle his royal responsibilities or get caught in another complicated situation. One thing is certain: the royal family of Morpur is preparing for another entertaining chapter!
