Actor Aasif Khan may have exited Bigg Boss 20, but his revelations about life inside the controversial reality show continue to offer an interesting glimpse into the house dynamics. In a recent media interaction after his eviction, Aasif spoke about his changing attitude following Salman Khan’s feedback, the way Arishfa was treated by fellow contestants, and the creative idea behind his popular in-house segment, BB News. He also opened up about the biggest personal lesson he learned during his time on the show, admitting that the experience made him realise the true value of family and even the everyday essentials people often take for granted.
During the interaction, Aasif was asked about his strong attitude when he first entered the house and his apparent change in energy after being reprimanded during one of the early Weekend Ka Vaar episodes. Responding to the suggestion that he had gone cold or become subdued after Salman Khan pulled him up, the actor explained that he had not lost his competitive spirit. Instead, he had taken the host's words as important feedback and decided to reflect on them. Aasif said, “Well, I didn't exactly go 'cold.' I just received a bit of a 'lashing' [a stern reprimand]. And when you get a 'lashing'—especially from Salman Sir—it tends to set you straight. It’s actually a good kind of 'lashing,' because he is much more senior than I am. When Salman Sir speaks, his voice essentially represents the voice of the public. I believe the sensible thing to do is to listen carefully when the public speaks, take that feedback positively, and move forward. If you perceive that as 'going cold,' then that’s fine.”
The conversation then moved to Arishfa and whether the so-called bully gang deliberately targeted her by repeatedly calling her a child, knowing that she disliked the label. Contestants such as Scout and Aamrapali were mentioned in the question, with Aasif asked whether the teasing was intentional. However, he offered a slightly different perspective, suggesting that the situation had changed over time and that Arishfa had eventually learned to turn the label into something she could own rather than something that upset her. Clarifying his point, Aasif said, “Which week are you referring to, brother? Because, after a certain point, Arishma herself became perfectly fine with it. She even started playing along, showing that it no longer bothered her. That was a long time ago—probably back in the first or second week. After that, she actually started enjoying it. In fact, she once mentioned to me that Salman Sir had given her some feedback: "Turn this into your strength." Then I turn that into a strength and move forward with it.”
Aasif was also asked whether he missed reporting from inside the Bigg Boss house and what he had learned from creating his own content during the show. His answer revealed just how much he enjoyed the creative side of the experience. While several contestants joked about being able to talk to walls or cameras, Aasif decided to actually do it. That spontaneous idea eventually developed into BB News, a segment that became part of his daily routine inside the house. He explained, “I certainly miss the reporting a lot. It’s just my nature—I can never sit idle. I have a real passion for doing creative things. In the Bigg Boss house, I’d heard many people say, "Oh, I can even talk to the walls," or "I can talk to the cameras.’ But they were just saying it; no one was actually doing it. So, I thought, "If they aren't doing it, I will"—and I started talking to the cameras and the walls in a creative way. That’s how I began 'BB News.' I truly enjoyed it, even though it meant I’d get an hour or two less sleep each night—I’d wait for everyone to go to bed before I’d start working on it.”
But perhaps the most emotional part of the interaction came when Aasif spoke about the personal lessons he carried away from the show. He said that spending time away from his loved ones made him understand how easily people take their closest relationships for granted. Whether it is a mother, sister or wife, he realised that the people who matter most deserve attention and time, rather than being put off until a more convenient moment. Reflecting on this change in perspective, he said, “As for what I learned... well, the most valuable lesson I took away from the Bigg Boss house concerns the people closest to me—those for whom I am truly irreplaceable, like my mother, my sister, or my wife. In our busy lives, we often take them for granted—thinking, "Oh, they’ve called, but I’ll talk to them later," or "It’s fine, we’ll catch up eventually." I won’t do that anymore. I realized the immense value of these people.”
Aasif then made a striking comparison between his identity as an actor and his irreplaceable place in his family's life. He acknowledged that the entertainment industry can move on quickly, but the bond he shares with his family cannot simply be replaced. He added, “In the outside world—where I am known as the actor Aasif Khan—if I were to leave, I’d be replaced within 15 minutes. But my mother could never have another son to take my place. That is the one thing I learned.”
The actor also revealed that the show made him appreciate basic necessities in a way he had not done before. Living inside the Bigg Boss house, where access to everyday things is limited and food essentials become particularly important, reminded him of the value of simple comforts. Aasif said, “Another thing I learned is that once we start earning some money, we begin to feel as though everything is right at our fingertips—we can just order food, for instance. But then, you go into a place like the Bigg Boss house and realize the true importance of basic essentials—eggs, milk, roti, rice, and flour. We’ve managed to build rockets, yet we’ve left these fundamental things behind. Being there, I rediscovered the value of these small, everyday necessities. There’s a common saying in our homes—parents often tell us, "Once you grow up, you’ll realize the true cost of flour and rice"—and that’s exactly what you learn once you enter the Bigg Boss house.”
From taking Salman Khan's criticism positively to finding a creative outlet through BB News, Aasif's Bigg Boss 20 journey appears to have been about more than just competition. His comments also show how the experience changed his perspective on relationships, everyday comforts and the importance of making time for the people who truly matter. While the actor is no longer part of the competition, his reflections have added a personal dimension to his exit, revealing a side of the reality-show experience that goes beyond nominations, arguments and Weekend Ka Vaar drama.
