The trailer of Haq was launched on Monday, and the gripping first look of the courtroom drama has already caught everyone’s attention. But amid the excitement, it was debutante Vartika Singh who shone brightly at the event not just for her poised presence but for the heartfelt honesty with which she spoke about her first film and her experience sharing screen space with two acclaimed actors, Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi.
Speaking about her journey, Vartika said, “I was really nervous and overwhelmed with the opportunity that I was given. When the whole journey started, everything was quite last minute — in such little time everybody helped me discover Saira so fast and so well. I couldn’t believe that I can do this.”
She went on to recall how her co-stars became her biggest support system.“I think there was one time Yami helped me onscreen — I just remember that moment so vividly. Emraan is such a wonderful person to work with… every moment he kept things light and professional. Overall, they gave me the confidence that I can work with actors like them, and not feel like this is my first film. They’ve always helped me get better, and I really appreciate that. I’m totally impressed by them.”
The young actor’s words perfectly capture the blend of nervous excitement and gratitude that comes with a first big break. While Vartika plays Saira, a character she describes as “emotionally layered and real,” she credits the film’s team for helping her find that depth so quickly despite the tight schedule.
Haq brings together the powerhouse pairing of Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi for the first time, in a story that explores the intersection of law, faith, and morality. The film, directed by Suparn S. Varma, promises to be a hard-hitting yet emotional drama that questions the meaning of justice in today’s world.
