Esha Deol joined Amit Sadh, Seema Biswas, Milind Gunaji and other cast members at the trailer launch of Pratap in Mumbai. Speaking about her return to acting and her experience working on the upcoming action thriller, Esha opened up about her emotionally layered character, praised her co-star Amit Sadh and expressed admiration for director Sachin Saraf. The film promises an intense story that explores not only the complexities of the justice system but also the personal struggles of a family caught in a crisis.
Reflecting on her acting comeback, Esha shared that she had previously worked on projects such as Rudra with Ajay Devgn and Hunter with Suniel Shetty, along with a film directed by Vikram Bhatt. She said many people had encouraged her to work with an actor from the current generation, making her collaboration with Amit Sadh particularly special. Praising him, Esha said, “He is such a fine actor. I’ve followed his work since his debut, Kai Po Che!—he and the entire cast were excellent in it.” She added that Amit was exactly the kind of actor she had hoped to work with from the younger generation.
In Pratap, Esha plays Poonam Ranade, the wife of Amit Sadh’s character, ACP Pratap Ranade. Describing her character, Esha explained that Poonam initially enjoys a respected place in society, with much of that standing connected to her husband’s reputation. However, her life changes dramatically when her husband disappears from her world following the events that lead to his imprisonment. Esha described Poonam as a woman whose identity is suddenly shaken, forcing her to confront a devastating reality before finding the strength to build a new life for herself.
Talking about the emotional demands of the role, Esha said, “It’s a profound sense of being lost—when your anchors are gone, it takes time to rebuild.” She described portraying Poonam as an incredibly emotional experience, requiring her to understand the turmoil of a woman whose family life and social standing are suddenly disrupted. Rather than remaining a conventional supporting character, Poonam’s journey highlights resilience, survival and the difficult process of rediscovering oneself when everything familiar falls apart.
Esha also had generous words for director Sachin Saraf, praising his ability to bring out strong performances from the cast. She said she thoroughly enjoyed working with him and expressed confidence that audiences would appreciate his work after watching the film. She also thanked producer Pradeep for taking excellent care of the team, celebrating the trailer launch as a proud milestone. Her comments reflected the positive experience she had on set and her belief in the people behind the project.
Starring Amit Sadh, Esha Deol, Seema Biswas, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Milind Gunaji, Pratap follows decorated Mumbai encounter specialist ACP Pratap Ranade, whose career and life take a dark turn after a leaked video shows him assaulting a notorious criminal who later dies in police custody. Stripped of his badge and imprisoned, Pratap must fight against an alleged conspiracy while confronting questions of duty and justice. Amid the unfolding crisis, Poonam’s emotional journey adds a deeply personal dimension to the thriller. Directed by Sachin Saraf, Pratap is scheduled to release in theatres on 20 November 2026.
