Veteran actor Seema Biswas joined Amit Sadh, Esha Deol, Milind Gunaji and other cast members at the trailer launch of Pratap in Mumbai. Known for bringing remarkable depth and intensity to her characters, Seema is all set to make a compelling appearance in the upcoming action thriller, directed by Sachin Saraf. The film promises a gripping narrative that explores the complex relationship between duty, justice and the human experience.
In Pratap, Seema Biswas essays the role of Meera Sen, an iron-willed and principled jailer who believes firmly in following the rulebook. Her unwavering commitment to her responsibilities creates an intense dynamic within the prison, particularly with Amit Sadh’s character, ACP Pratap Ranade. At the trailer launch, Seema spoke about her role, her experience working on the film and the depth she believes the story brings to the screen.
During her interaction with the media, Seema offered an unusually candid assessment of her own performance. She said, “After watching the trailer, I felt that my own performance was the weakest—I didn't seem to bring any depth to it. That’s my critical take as an actor.” Despite being critical of herself, the actor expressed immense admiration for the script and the people behind the project, emphasising how strongly the story resonated with her.
Praising her co-star Amit Sadh, Seema added, “Plus, we have a wonderful cast—I feel really proud. And thank you, Amit—he was such a great support! He is so encouraging and such a passionate actor.” She also expressed regret at not getting the opportunity to share screen space with Esha Deol, while thanking producer Pradeep and director Sachin Saraf for bringing the project to life. Her words reflected the camaraderie on set and her appreciation for being part of a team committed to telling a meaningful story.
Explaining what makes Pratap stand apart, Seema highlighted its human and philosophical approach to a police drama. “Often, when we hear stories about cops, they are presented in a mechanical, superficial way—sometimes even glorified. But this film offers a philosophical commentary on the human experience,” she said. She left the final judgment on the performances to the audience, asking, “As for the depth—well, the audience will decide that. How did we all do?” Her honest remarks added an intriguing layer to the film’s trailer launch.
Starring Amit Sadh, Esha Deol, Seema Biswas, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Milind Gunaji, Pratap follows decorated Mumbai encounter specialist ACP Pratap Ranade, who has 26 kills to his name. His life takes a dramatic turn when a leaked video shows him assaulting a notorious criminal who later dies in police custody. Stripped of his badge, denied bail and abandoned by influential allies, Pratap finds himself imprisoned in Mumbai Central Prison, where he must confront an alleged conspiracy and fight for justice. Directed by Sachin Saraf, Pratap is scheduled to release in theatres on 20 November 2026.
