A voice that once broke barriers in the hush of Kashmir’s valleys is all set to find its echo across the world. Prime Video’s upcoming release, Songs of Paradise, is more than just a musical drama — it’s a heartfelt tribute to courage, culture, and the untold story of a woman who dared to dream in silence.
Streaming on August 29, 2025, the film stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan in the role of Noor Begum, a fictionalized representation of Raj Begum, Kashmir’s first prominent female playback singer and a Padma Shri awardee. Set against the stunning and storied backdrop of Kashmir — a land of snow-capped peaks, lyrical landscapes, and long-standing political turbulence — Songs of Paradise captures the journey of a trailblazing artist who found her voice in an era when women were expected to remain quiet.
Directed by Danish Renzu, the film draws inspiration from the real-life legend Raj Begum (1927–2016) — often called The Nightingale of Kashmir. Co-written by Niranjan Iyengar and Sunayana Kachroo, the script is layered with the textures of time, tradition, and transformation.
In a rare casting choice, the role of Noor Begum is portrayed by two powerhouse performers Saba Azad, known for her compelling performances in Rocket Boys and her musical finesse, steps into the shoes of a young Noor — fiery, passionate, and full of melody.
Soni Razdan, a veteran with decades of experience, brings the grace and gravitas of the older Noor, carrying the weight of a life lived in pursuit of music, memory, and meaning.
