The Viral Fever (TVF) has publicly expressed support for veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, sharing a heartfelt statement on social media that read, “In this moment, we stand firmly by Rajpal Yadav Ji. @rajpalofficial.” The note emphasized the actor’s contributions to cinema: “Through every phase, your work has brought joy to millions. We stand with you. And we support you. We would truly love to create something together one day—a series that lets audiences see even more of the magic you carry. Always rooting for you. Team TVF.”

Yadav, renowned for his comic timing and versatile roles in films across decades, surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month prison sentence in a long-standing cheque bounce and loan default case. The legal battle traces back to a ₹5 crore loan he took in 2010 from Delhi-based M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to fund his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. After the film’s commercial failure, several cheques issued by Yadav bounced, triggering criminal proceedings that escalated over the years.

Over 15 years, accumulated interest and penalties caused the financial liability to balloon to approximately ₹9 crore. Yadav and his wife were originally convicted in 2018 by a magistrate’s court, receiving a six-month jail term. The conviction was upheld by a sessions court in 2019. Despite repeated appeals and requests for extensions, the Delhi High Court rejected his final plea for more time on February 4, 2026, citing his repeated inability to honor court-mandated payments and commitments.

Industry support for Rajpal Yadav has poured in from across Bollywood. Actor Sonu Sood reportedly offered him a film role along with a signing amount, while music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh pledged ₹1.11 crore to aid him financially. Prominent figures including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and David Dhawan have also stepped in with assistance. Even politician Tej Pratap Yadav publicly extended ₹11 lakh in solidarity. The actor’s bail hearing was initially scheduled for February 12, 2026, but he remains in custody, with the next hearing set for February 16, 2026.

Yadav’s case has reignited discussions about the financial pressures faced by actors in Bollywood and the industry’s role in providing support during personal crises. While legal proceedings continue, the outpouring of backing from peers and production houses like TVF underscores the respect and affection he commands within the industry. For fans and colleagues alike, Rajpal Yadav remains a beloved figure whose contribution to Indian cinema is celebrated, even amid adversity.
