It’s been three decades since Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge first lit up cinema screens, but its magic still lingers—and for veteran actor Anupam Kher, that magic just got a little more personal. On the film’s 30th anniversary, the celebrated actor took to Instagram to share a heartfelt moment from Switzerland, where he visited the iconic Mount Titlis—one of the film’s most memorable locations.

Clad in a jacket and sunglasses, with snow-capped peaks behind him, Kher looked every bit the dignified storyteller as he soaked in the nostalgia of a film that changed Bollywood forever. But more than the snow or the scenery, it was the DDLJ poster on site that stirred something deeper in him.

“WONDERFUL FEELING,” he captioned the reel. “On the landmark occasion of #30YearsOf #DDLJ, it was a joyous feeling for me to visit the iconic location #MountTitlis in #Switzerland where both #Shahrukh and #Kajol shot some amazing sequences from the film. And to find the poster there was too cool a feeling!”

What made this visit even more special? It was Kher’s first time ever at Mount Titlis—despite being a part of countless films shot in Switzerland over his career. That personal “first” added an unexpected emotional layer to the milestone.

As someone who played the warm and quirky Dharamvir Malhotra—Raj's (Shah Rukh Khan’s) father in DDLJ—Kher has long been part of the film’s legacy. But returning to a real-life location that helped shape one of Indian cinema’s most loved stories clearly left a mark.

In the video, Kher is visibly moved. “Thirty years ago we shot this film, and today I'm here,” he says, adding that seeing the film’s iconic imagery still celebrated on the mountaintop made him feel proud to have been part of it.

In a charming twist, Kher also dropped a bit of trivia that delighted fans: the title “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” was suggested by his wife, actress and politician Kirron Kher.

That one line turned the post from nostalgic to iconic. In a world where blockbuster titles often go through multiple revisions, knowing that such a legendary film’s name came from a casual conversation at home adds an unexpected and intimate layer to its legacy.

While fans and the film industry have been celebrating 30 years of DDLJ in various ways, Anupam Kher’s post stood out for its personal sincerity. As he stood on that snowy Swiss peak, surrounded by postcard-perfect landscapes and memories of a film that helped define modern Bollywood, Kher reminded us why DDLJ isn’t just a movie—it’s a piece of cinematic soul.

And sometimes, even for the actors who lived it, revisiting that soul can be “too cool a feeling” indeed.
