Director Tarun Mansukhani, known for shaping some of Bollywood’s most entertaining stories, recently spoke passionately about actor Abhishek Bachchan, praising his versatility and addressing the constant comparison between Abhishek and his legendary father, Amitabh Bachchan.
Tarun Mansukhani began by expressing firm admiration for Abhishek Bachchan’s body of work, calling him one of the most underrated performers in the industry. He said, “He is one of the finest actors we have in our industry. He is very underrated. You look at any of his films—I Want to Talk, Ghoomer, Raavan, Dostana, Bluffmaster, Guru—the variety in his performances is so wide. He has delivered such different characters. No one, even by chance, can say that he is not a good actor. He is one of the most outstanding actors we have in our industry.”
Mansukhani’s praise reflects a sentiment shared by many filmmakers: Abhishek’s talent and character choices have consistently demonstrated depth, range, and an ability to reinvent himself across genres.
The director also addressed the frequent conversations about Abhishek being compared to his father, Amitabh Bachchan. Instead of viewing it as a burden, Mansukhani sees it as an honour of the highest order. He said, “It is mind-blowing to get compared to Amitabh Bachchan. Who would not want to be compared to a legend? If you told me I was being compared to Raj Kapoor, I would die of happiness—that such a big legend is being used as a benchmark for me.Maybe Amitabh Bachchan is his father, so the comparison will happen… but for me, being compared to a legend is one of the best things.”
With heartfelt conviction, Tarun Mansukhani’s words highlight what many cinema lovers already know—Abhishek Bachchan is a powerhouse performer whose work continues to speak for itself.
