T-Series recently shared a heartfelt tribute to the beloved romantic drama Chalte Chalte, marking 22 years since the film’s release. Posting a series of videos and posters, they wrote, “Some love stories never age... just like Chalte Chalte. #22YearsOfChalteChalte @iamsrk #RaniMukerji @utvfilms #TSeries.”
Directed by Aziz Mirza and produced by Dreamz Unlimited, Chalte Chalte stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in a story that explores love across class and personality divides. The film centers on Raj, a carefree truck company owner, and Priya, a fashion designer from a wealthy Greek-Indian family. Despite their differences, they fall in love and marry, only to face the real challenges of marital conflict, lifestyle clashes, and temperament.
Released theatrically on June 13, 2003, Chalte Chalte was the last production by Dreamz Unlimited before it restructured and became Red Chillies Entertainment. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Jatin–Lalit, Aadesh Shrivastava, and Lalit Sen with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, became hugely popular, further cementing the movie’s legacy.
Critics gave the film mixed-to-positive reviews, praising its mature handling of marital issues and strong performances, particularly Rani Mukerji’s portrayal of Priya. Chalte Chalte emerged as a commercial success and even screened at the Casablanca Film Festival. At the 49th Filmfare Awards, the film earned five nominations, including Best Actress for Mukerji and Best Music Director for Jatin–Lalit.
