National Award-winning director Sudipto Sen, known for the provocative hit The Kerala Story, is stepping into production with his new project Charak: Fair of Faith. The official teaser has been unveiled, giving audiences a first glimpse of a grounded, immersive folklore thriller set to hit theaters on 6 March 2026.
Presented by Jayantilal Gada’s PEN Studios and backed by Sudipto Sen Productions, Charak is directed by Shieladitya Moulik. The film features a talented ensemble cast including Anjali Patil, Sahidur Rahaman, Subrat Dutta, Shashi Bhushan, Nalneesh Neel, Shankhadeep, and Shounak Shyamal. Rajesh Bhatt serves as associate producer.
The teaser emphasizes the film’s raw, human storytelling, presenting a ritual where faith is expressed through extreme physical endurance. The narrative follows participants driven by belief, hope, or personal necessity, and explores how such traditions can both empower and challenge individuals. Based on a short story by Sanjay Halder, the screenplay and dialogue are penned by Farauq Malik. The film promises a realistic, immersive portrayal of a rarely seen cultural practice, delving deep into the human stories that unfold within it.
