Shanthi Talkies has unveiled the official trailer of its much-anticipated family drama 3BHK, and it's already tugging at heartstrings. Directed by Sri Ganesh and based on a short story by Aravindh Sachidanandam, 3BHK is a Tamil-language coming-of-age film that captures the quiet struggles and enduring hopes of a middle-class family chasing the Indian dream — a home of their own.
Set for release on July 4, 2025, the film stars Siddharth as Prabhu, the earnest son burdened with fulfilling his father’s lifelong ambition. Veteran actor R. Sarathkumar plays Vasudevan, the family's stoic patriarch, while Devayani returns in a pivotal role as the matriarch. The ensemble cast also includes Meetha Raghunath, Chaithra J. Achar, Yogi Babu, and Subbu Panchu, rounding out a cast that blends warmth, humour, and realism.
The trailer opens with a visually arresting scene — Prabhu returning home from school to find their modest rented house flooded during a storm. That one image sets the tone for a story about resilience, belonging, and familial duty. As the years roll forward, so do the expectations and challenges that come with chasing a better life. For Vasudevan, owning a "3BHK" isn’t just about bricks and walls — it’s about respect, stability, and a place to call their own.
Sarathkumar delivers a commanding yet vulnerable presence as a father torn between hope and hardship. Siddharth, as Prabhu, appears emotionally layered — grappling with responsibility, societal pressures, and his own dreams, all while trying to live up to the expectations of his father. The chemistry between the cast, especially the familial dynamics, is one of the trailer’s strongest aspects.
Director Sri Ganesh, known for 8 Thottakkal, shifts gears from noir to nostalgia with this emotional narrative, and the trailer suggests a grounded, visually rich film shaped by life’s small moments and big decisions. Dinesh Krishnan’s cinematography adds texture and tone to the storytelling, while Amrit Ramnath’s music hints at a soundtrack that's likely to deepen the emotional beats of the narrative.
With production by Arun Viswa under the Shanthi Talkies banner, and support from API Films and Think Music India, 3BHK is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most emotionally resonant films — a story not just about a house, but about what makes a home.
Don’t miss it in theatres this July 4.
