Rising actor Shaan Groverr is riding high on praise for his performance as Mahesh Iyer in YRF’s latest film Saiyaara. In a candid reflection on his journey, the actor shared his heartfelt thoughts about the appreciation, his character, and his long-standing dream of working with Yash Raj Films.
“I’m receiving so much love. Everyone who’s watching the film is messaging me saying how much they’re enjoying my performance and how much they liked the movie. For any artist, the most important thing is that their work and character are acknowledged and appreciated – and that’s exactly what’s happening. This is why I came into the industry,” Shaan says.
Though the role of Mahesh is not lengthy, it’s pivotal to the story. And Shaan’s portrayal has left a strong impact.“Whether the role is big or small, positive or negative – I want to do it with complete sincerity. If I can make even five people laugh or cry, that is my victory,” he adds with quiet conviction.
Interestingly, Shaan has also been receiving hate messages for his character, something he views as a strange compliment. “As an artist, our job is to portray characters that are not like us. So, it actually feels good that I’m getting hate messages – it shows that I’ve done my job well,” he smiles.
What makes Saiyaara extra special for Shaan is the fact that it's a full-circle moment in his career. He began his journey with Yash Raj Films back in 2016 and now returns in a significant role in a YRF film, under the direction of Mohit Suri.
“This is a dream come true. In this country, there probably isn’t a single actor who doesn’t want to work with YRF. And the beautiful part is – I started my career with them. A big shoutout to my mentor Shanoo Sharma ma’am – she saw something in me back in 2016. She was my first boss, and I’ve been connected to her ever since. More than working with YRF, it meant everything to me that I could make her proud.”
Looking ahead, Shaan’s focus remains unwavering: keep working, keep evolving. “I just hope this journey never stops. I want to work every single day of my life. I want to keep getting work, and keep doing it. I hope that bigger and more impactful roles come my way now.”
With passion in his voice and purpose in his words, Shaan Groverr is clearly an artist who’s here to stay – one heartfelt role at a time.
