Ram Gopal Varma, known for his bold filmmaking and collaborations with some of India’s biggest actors, has revealed that when it comes to fandom, no one comes close to Amitabh Bachchan in his eyes. Having worked closely with Big B in the Sarkar franchise, Varma confessed he’s a fan in the truest, old-school sense—so much so that he once stood in line to buy tickets for Bachchan’s films, something he has never done for any other actor.

Reflecting on the most influential performer he has collaborated with, Varma shared, “Amitabh Bachchan… because the reason is I stood in line to buy tickets to his movie, I have never done with any other actor… After I came into films, I started to look at actors from a different angle. I looked at them professionally, their suitability. I am not a fan, not like I was fan of Mr Bachchan, so I think that would be the difference.” His words underline a unique blend of admiration and professional respect—something only Big B has managed to inspire throughout Varma’s long career.

Meanwhile, Varma is enjoying renewed attention as his cult classic Rangeela, starring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff, recently returned to cinemas for a special re-release. The film’s comeback has stirred nostalgia among audiences who continue to cherish its music, performances, and breezy charm.

Adding to the excitement, the filmmaker is currently shooting his reunion project with Manoj Bajpayee, intriguingly titled Police Station Mein Bhoot. With Varma’s signature flair and Bajpayee’s powerhouse talent, the collaboration has already sparked curiosity among fans.
