Actor Rajkummar Rao, known for his versatility and grounded charm, was one of the key speakers at the 12th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Big Picture Summit 2025, the premier annual gathering for India’s media and entertainment sector. During an engaging interaction, Rao was asked a question many stars either dodge or overthink: Who would play him in his biopic? His answer, of course, came with his trademark wit.
“Who should play me in my biopic? Oh wow,” he laughed, adding that the first person he’d rope in would be creator-producer Sameer Nair. “Sameer has to write it—he’s one of the best writers we have. We’ll co-produce it… we’ll be partners in that.” He then humbly dismissed the idea of his life being biopic-worthy (a statement fans would strongly disagree with), joking that he’s a “very hungry actor” who would love to act in his own life story anyway.
The Stree and Shahid actor has had an impressive run recently, last seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf and Maalik. Currently, he is wrapping up his next film, Toaster, a quirky comedy directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, co-starring Sanya Malhotra. The film follows a stingy man whose obsession with a toaster he gifted to a newlywed couple spirals into a hilariously chaotic chain of murder, mayhem, and misunderstandings—classic dark comedy meets slice-of-life madness.
Toaster also marks a significant milestone in Rao’s career: his fifth collaboration with Netflix, following Ludo (2020), Monica, O My Darling (2022), The White Tiger (2021), and the series Guns & Gulaabs (2023). The film is produced by KAMPA Films, with Rajkummar and his wife Patralekha stepping in as producers—making it Patralekha’s debut in film production.
The ensemble cast adds even more flavor, featuring Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa. With such a mix of talent, Toaster seems poised to deliver a delightful blend of humor, chaos, and heart—much like Rajkummar Rao’s own cinematic journey.
