During the trailer launch of Maalik, actor Rajkummar Rao opened up about his enriching experience working alongside veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee. Praising both his craft and character, Rajkummar shared heartfelt insights into why Prosenjit stands out not only as a performer but as a person.
“It is always fun to work with Prosenjit Chatterjee,” Rajkummar said warmly. “I have heard a lot of stories about him from others who have worked with him, and they all speak very highly of him. Of course, he is phenomenally talented—we all know that—but as a human being, he is such a beautiful soul. That is what we look for in actors. Being a great actor is a given, but it also matters a lot whether you’re a good person.”
Rajkummar expressed gratitude that Prosenjit accepted the film, highlighting the uniqueness of his role. “I’m very glad he said yes because this is a character that not many people have seen him play before. I’m excited for the audience to witness this new avatar of his. We have plenty of talented actors in the film, but Prosenjit has added a special tadka [flavor] to his character that is truly beautiful.”
Maalik is an action thriller directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani. Along with Rajkummar Rao and Prosenjit Chatterjee, the film stars Manushi Chhillar, Anshumaan Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, and Saurabh Shukla, who plays Minister Shankar Singh.
The film is set for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025, promising a gripping narrative and powerful performances. Rajkummar’s praise for Prosenjit adds to the anticipation, signaling a collaboration that blends exceptional talent with genuine camaraderie.
