Dawn Pictures officially announced the wrap of principal photography for Parasakthi, a highly anticipated Tamil period drama helmed by National Award-winning director Sudha Kongara. Starring Sivakarthikeyan in a powerful new avatar, the film is set for a grand Pongal 2026 release on January 14. Accompanying the announcement was a gripping 15-second wrap video featuring fiery visuals and cast members standing amidst flames, symbolizing the film’s core themes of revolution, sacrifice, and transformation.
Parasakthi is based on true events and marks the Tamil debut of actress Sreeleela, who stars alongside Ravi Mohan and Atharvaa. With music composed by GV Prakash Kumar and editing by Suriya, the film promises an emotionally charged cinematic experience. Set against a backdrop of socio-political unrest, the story is expected to echo the spirit of rebellion and resilience, staying true to Sudha Kongara’s signature style of telling hard-hitting, human-driven narratives.
The production team, including DOP Niketh Bommi, stunt director Supreme Sundar, and choreographer Brindha Gopal, has wrapped an intense shoot schedule that spanned several months. The multilingual rollout in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam is designed to maximize the film’s reach, establishing Parasakthi as a pan-Indian release with strong regional roots. The teaser released earlier in January 2025 had already generated considerable buzz, hinting at a gritty, large-scale drama.
With its release timed for the Pongal festival, Parasakthi is now poised for a box office showdown with Vijay’s political action drama Jana Nayagan. This festival clash promises to be one of the most talked-about cinematic face-offs of 2026, with fans eagerly awaiting how both films will perform in theatres. As the final leg of post-production begins, the journey of Parasakthi marches closer to what could be a defining moment in Tamil cinema.
