IFC Films has unveiled the first official trailer for Over Your Dead Body, a wickedly sharp action-comedy from filmmaker Jorma Taccone. The film is set to premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival in March before launching in theaters nationwide on April 24, 2026 — and it promises chaos, carnage, and plenty of marital mayhem.
A playful riff on the classic phrase “over my dead body,” the film centers on a deeply dysfunctional married couple who retreat to a secluded cabin in hopes of repairing their fractured relationship. There’s just one problem: each spouse is secretly plotting to kill the other. What follows is a dark, twisted, and riotous battle of wits packed with action, deception, and escalating absurdity.
Leading the madness are Samara Weaving and Jason Segel as the homicidally inclined husband and wife. The supporting cast only raises the stakes, featuring Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine — a lineup IFC calls a “killer cast” in every sense of the word.
The screenplay comes from comedy duo Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, whose sharp comedic sensibilities pair perfectly with Taccone’s energetic direction. Early descriptions from SXSW tease a high-concept showdown where reconciliation takes a backseat to survival.
With its blend of savage humor, action set-pieces, and marital warfare, Over Your Dead Body looks primed to deliver big-screen laughs with a lethal edge when it slices into theaters this April.
