Director Anurag Kashyap is back—and if the teaser for his upcoming film Nishaanchi is anything to go by, he’s returning to the gritty, pulpy roots that made him a cult favourite. In a tweet dripping with his signature swag, Kashyap wrote: “Tayyari kar di hai! Emosan ka tadka, actsan ka dhamaka, aur gulel, katta, gaadi, ghoda toh hai hi bhaiya”—a line that sets the tone for what looks like a chaotic, explosive ride into rural rebellion and raw emotion.
Set to hit cinemas on September 19, 2025, Nishaanchi is an action-drama laced with the themes Kashyap does best: brotherhood, betrayal, love, and redemption. The film revolves around twin brothers with clashing ideologies, played by a powerhouse cast including Monika Panwar, Vedika Pinto, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. This is not your polished metro-set drama; this is India’s heartland cinema with katta, gulel, and galloping horses.
The teaser opens with visceral imagery—dusty streets, roaring engines, and that unmistakable Kashyap-style framing—cinematographer Sylvester Fonseca seems to be channeling rustic rage with cinematic flair. The mood is amplified by Manan Bharadwaj’s pounding score and lyrical injections by Varun Grover and Piyush Mishra, promising a soundtrack that hits as hard as the film’s gunshots.
This marks Kashyap’s notable collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, a sign that the filmmaker is blending his anarchic storytelling with global production muscle. Backed by Pen Movies and produced by Ajay G. Rai and Cinemakasam, the project has all the makings of a bold pan-India release with universal themes but a proudly desi heart.
While the teaser is heavy on atmosphere and intrigue, it hints just enough at the internal conflicts that will drive the narrative. If you’re expecting a clean good vs. evil trope, forget it—this is Anurag Kashyap’s world, where the lines are always blurred, and redemption comes drenched in blood, bullets, and broken morals.
Are we getting Gangs of Wasseypur energy? Maybe. But fresher, tighter, and with twin brothers aiming for the same throne.
September 19 can’t come soon enough.
