Actor Pratik Gandhi, who will soon be seen in the Netflix original Hum Hindustani, praised the streaming platform for its creative freedom and impact on the entertainment industry. The series, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, revisits India’s first general elections in the early 1950s and promises a mix of political intrigue, historical storytelling, and compelling drama.

Speaking at the Mumbai launch of the series alongside Saif Ali Khan and the creative team, Pratik Gandhi said, “It feels really great to work in different genres. When you have compelling stories, smart writing, brilliant directors, and the most talented actors to work with, I guess you have to step up your game. And when a platform gives you this kind of freedom to experiment, the least an actor can do is experiment fearlessly.”

“Then, as you said, you like the result, and when people applaud it, it really feels great. It encourages us to do more experiments. So yes, thanks to platforms like Netflix, which have actually democratized the whole entertainment world, and since we're talking about democracy, I guess this is the best film to come out with” said Pratik.

Hum Hindustani is directed and written by Rahul Dholakia and is produced under the Emmay Entertainment banner by Nikkhil Advani, Monisha Advani, and Madhu Bhojwani. Alongside Gandhi and Khan, the series features Deepak Dobriyal, Mimi Chakraborty, Sarika, and Shraddha Dangar, forming a talented ensemble bringing this political period drama to life.

The series is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2026, promising a cinematic exploration of one of India’s most pivotal democratic milestones, blending historical insight with human stories behind the monumental elections.
