New Mountain Films has unveiled the trailer for Loathe Thy Neighbor — a quirky rural comedy with sting, sass, and a whole lot of honey. Formerly titled Yuppie, the film is helmed by Sergio Navarretta and brings a unique odd-couple twist to the city-meets-country genre.
Starring Brennan Clost as Will Larkfield, a severely allergic, anxiety-prone city slicker, the story kicks off when Will inherits his late father’s dilapidated farmhouse. He’s hoping for peace — maybe a real estate flip. What he gets instead? Lauren Holly’s Wanda Bellerose — an unhinged, bee-wrangling neighbor with a vendetta against all things urban and a gift for chaotic confrontation.
Wanda doesn’t just dislike Will — she loathes him. And she makes it her mission to remind him of that at every turn. As if one psycho neighbor wasn’t enough, her daughter (a part-time thief with full-time attitude), a looming corporate conspiracy, and Will’s complete incompatibility with country life complicate things even further.
But as tempers flare and pollen flies, Loathe Thy Neighbor flips the script. What starts as a turf war turns into an unexpected journey of community, resilience, and maybe—just maybe—friendship. Think Grumpy Old Men meets Schitt’s Creek, but with bee stings and emotional growth.
The film also features Shaun Benson, Brittany Raymond, Paloma Nuñez, Jessica Greco, and Luke Humphrey, rounding out a strong ensemble cast. The screenplay, penned by Christian Majewski, blends sharp wit with tender beats, making it a promising late-summer crowd-pleaser.
Loathe Thy Neighbor is slated to hit theaters on August 29th, 2025 — and if the trailer’s anything to go by, it’s going to be a honey-glazed battle of the wills worth buzzing about.
