The divine journey of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has officially reached its next milestone. After three intense years of filming and over 250 days on set, actor-director Rishab Shetty and the team at Hombale Films have wrapped up production on what is being hailed as one of Indian cinema’s most culturally rooted cinematic spectacles.
To mark the occasion, the makers unveiled a powerful “making glimpse” video, offering a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the scale, soul, and spirit that shaped Kantara: Chapter 1. With breathtaking visuals and a heartfelt narration by Rishab Shetty himself, the video captures the sheer dedication of thousands of artists, technicians, and craftsmen who contributed to the film’s vision.
“This is not just a film,” Shetty says emotionally in the video. “It’s a divine force.” He speaks about his dream — to tell the story of his land, his people, and their beliefs — and how that dream became a movement, fueled by faith, perseverance, and unity. The director-actor also revealed that the film was shot across challenging terrains for nearly three years, highlighting the film’s magnitude and spiritual depth.
Set centuries before the events of the first Kantara, the prequel dives into the ancient roots of the legend during the reign of the Kadambas of Banavasi. Rishab Shetty is set to portray a Naga Sadhu, a spiritual warrior with mythical powers, in a tale that promises action, history, and mysticism. The film also stars Jayaram in a pivotal role and features a stirring score by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, with visuals brought to life by cinematographer Arvind Kashyap.
Producer Vijay Kiragandur called it “one of Hombale’s most ambitious projects to date,” emphasizing the film’s role in preserving and celebrating India’s indigenous stories. The movie is slated for a massive worldwide release on October 2, 2025, in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and even English — reflecting its truly pan-Indian appeal.
After the resounding success of Kantara in 2022, which won both box office acclaim and National Awards, expectations for Chapter 1 are sky-high. With its deep spiritual undercurrent, immersive storytelling, and visual grandeur, Kantara: Chapter 1 isn’t just another film — it’s shaping up to be an era-defining cinematic experience.
