The Masti franchise has always been about laughter, friendship, and fun but behind the scenes of its fourth installment lies a story of faith, gratitude, and second chances. At the launch of the film’s first song, Pakad Pakad, director Milap Milan Zaveri opened up about his journey to directing Masti 4 and the trust placed in him by veteran filmmaker Indra Kumar, who directed all three previous parts of the franchise.
Speaking at the event, Milap expressed heartfelt gratitude and humility as he recalled how this opportunity came to him during one of the lowest phases of his career. “I’m deeply grateful to Indu ji. It’s not easy for a director to give his own franchise to someone else. He has been very kind and generous. Two years ago, I had no work — no one was taking my calls. I want to thank Riteish for telling Indu ji that Milap is the right person to direct this film. Thank you to Vivek and Aftab for having faith in me. They never made me feel like I was new to this team. I can never live up to Indu ji’s legacy, but I’ll do my best to honor it.”
The Masti series began in 2004 with Indra Kumar’s cult comedy Masti, followed by Grand Masti (2013) and Great Grand Masti (2016). Known for its unapologetic humor and the camaraderie between Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani, the franchise has become one of Bollywood’s longest-running comedy series.
With Masti 4, the reins now pass from Indra Kumar to Milap Zaveri a transition that marks both continuity and reinvention for the series.
Written by Farrukh Dhondy and Milap Milan Zaveri, Masti 4 promises the same mischievous tone with a fresh sensibility. The film stars Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani, alongside Arshad Warsi, Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa, Nargis Fakhri, Nishant Singh Malkani, and Natalia Janoszek.
