IFC unveiled the official trailer for the forthcoming indie revenge thriller Violent Ends, directed and written by John-Michael Powell. Starring Billy Magnussen as Lucas Frost, an individual raised within a crime family that seeks to escape a history of violence, the film is set in the violent Ozark Mountains. His serene existence with his fiancée Emma (played by Alexandra Shipp) is disrupted when his cousin performs a brutal armed robbery, sending Lucas back into the perilous life he tried to escape.
The trailer highlights a gritty story of family honor, violent repercussions, and revenge. Lucas's fight to save those he cares about and exact revenge for his fiancée's killing propels the gripping story. Joining Magnussen and Shipp are James Badge Dale, Kate Burton, Ray McKinnon, and Nick Stahl in a richen this brooding dark thriller.
Violent Ends is John-Michael Powell's second feature work following his first film The Send-Off, and it offers a riveting mix of suspense and emotional drama. Directed by Undine Buka and Vincent Sieber, the film has not had a festival premiere, and it will first debut on the screens in the US from October 31, 2025. The production team consists of director of photography Elijah Guess, editor Mark Gasparo, production designer Christian Snell, costume designer Kristen Kopp, and composer Anthony Willis.
For audiences of revenge thrillers with a strong emotional focus, Violent Ends provides a gripping but new cinematic experience based on family drama and an eerie natural location. The intense visuals and gripping narrative of the trailer have generated excitement already, making this independent film a must-see in the fall schedule.
