The trailer of Thamma, the latest addition to the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe, dropped on Friday, creating an immediate buzz among fans of the genre. Alongside the trailer, the makers also revealed a new logo for the cinematic universe, signaling a fresh and expansive direction.

At the trailer launch event, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who headlines Thamma, opened up about the film, his role, and his excitement about being part of this unique cinematic endeavor.

“This is my second collaboration with Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik,” Ayushmann said, referring to the producer-director duo. “Our first film together was Bala, and that turned out to be a 100% success. I hope this time we break our own record and achieve 200%, 300%, even 400% success,” he added with a smile. Ayushmann was particularly excited about the pan-India appeal of the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe, saying, “This universe connects the North and South of India. I truly believe it's the biggest cinematic universe in the history of not just Hindi cinema, but Indian cinema as a whole.” He elaborated, “Rashmika is from Telugu cinema, Katappa sir (Sathyaraj) is from Tamil cinema, and Niren Bhatt, the writer, is from Gujarat. This film is a fully well-rounded Indian story, deeply rooted in our culture.”

Praising Maddock Films, Ayushmann said, “Maddock truly stands for rooted storytelling and cultural richness. But it also stands for something more putting women first. That’s an important part of what makes this universe special.”

Ayushmann couldn't contain his excitement about Thamma being his first-ever Diwali release. “This is the first time one of my films is releasing during Diwali. So yes, I’m doubly excited. Every actor has a bucket list, and a Diwali release is certainly on mine.” Talking about his role, he revealed, “In Thamma, I play a common man who unexpectedly gains supernatural powers. This is something completely new for me as an actor, and I was instantly drawn to it.”

He also emphasized his faith in the makers, saying, “I truly believe in Dinesh Vijan’s vision. With him, you’re always in safe hands. This chapter of Thamma is going to add a lot of new layers to the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe.” Calling the project “very special,” Ayushmann concluded, “I always wanted to be a part of the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. It’s a family entertainer, it’s rooted in Indian culture, and it’s something that brings all parts of the country together. What more could an actor ask for?”

Stay tuned as Thamma prepares to cast its spell this Diwali—bringing chills, laughs, and a celebration of India's diverse cinematic heritage.
