The official trailer of Shraddha Kapoor’s much-awaited biographical drama Eetha has created a massive buzz online, clocking an impressive 35 million hits. Maddock Films shared a promotional video alongside the trailer announcement, introducing Shraddha as Eetha Bai Gaonkar through a striking montage of traditional Maharashtrian looks, expressive dance poses and captivating visuals. Announcing the release, the production house wrote, “Ek naam jo chha jaaye, Eetha Bai Gaonkar! Trailer Out Now. In cinemas, 4th December 2026.” The promotional video moves between vibrant colours and monochrome frames, giving audiences a glimpse of the film’s visual world. The strong response, with 35 million hits, has added to the excitement surrounding the film ahead of its December 4 theatrical release.

The video captures Shraddha in different traditional Maharashtrian sarees, with each look highlighting the personality and stage presence of Eetha Bai Gaonkar. The colourful frames bring out the vibrancy of folk performances, while the black-and-white visuals create a nostalgic, period-inspired atmosphere. Her dance poses and expressive appearance offer a glimpse into a world shaped by music, performance and cultural traditions. Instead of revealing too much about the storyline, the promotional video focuses on establishing the character's identity and building curiosity about her journey. Its mix of visual styles has helped make the trailer announcement stand out across social media.

The film draws inspiration from the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar (1935–2002), one of Maharashtra's most iconic Lavani and Tamasha performers. Known for her remarkable contribution to folk theatre, Vithabai created a lasting legacy through her dedication, talent and powerful stage performances. Her journey was not simply about entertaining audiences; it also reflected resilience, determination and the challenges faced by performers in traditional theatre. Through Eetha Bai Gaonkar, the film aims to bring the spirit of this celebrated artist and her contribution to Maharashtra's cultural heritage to a wider audience.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Eetha also stars Randeep Hooda in an important role. The film's music is composed by the popular duo Ajay-Atul, whose involvement adds another exciting element to a story deeply connected with dance and musical performance. With Lavani and Tamasha forming an important part of the film's cultural setting, the music is expected to contribute significantly to its atmosphere and storytelling.

For Shraddha Kapoor, the project offers an opportunity to explore a character rooted in Maharashtra's rich folk traditions. Lavani and Tamasha have long been important parts of the state's cultural identity, bringing together rhythm, dance, storytelling and theatrical expression. By focusing on the life of a performer, Eetha also highlights the dedication and struggles behind the glamour of the stage. The film could introduce a new generation of viewers to an important chapter of folk entertainment history.

Initially expected to release in August 2026, the film was postponed and is now set to arrive in cinemas on December 4, 2026. With the trailer already out and reportedly clocking 35 million hits, Eetha has given audiences a first look at Shraddha's transformation into Eetha Bai Gaonkar while generating considerable online attention. The combination of a real-life inspiration, Laxman Utekar's direction, Randeep Hooda's presence and music by Ajay-Atul makes this one of the notable upcoming releases to watch out for this December.
