Kamal Haasan has given his fans an exciting birthday surprise with the announcement that shooting has officially begun for his upcoming film Sandiyar. Turmeric Media has unveiled two new striking posters featuring the legendary actor in a fierce, action-packed avatar, accompanied by the powerful tagline, “6 ROUNDS, ZERO MERCY.” The announcement was shared on November 7, 2026, coinciding with Kamal Haasan's birthday, making the occasion even more special. The production house also teased the film's revenge-driven storyline with the intriguing words, “Revenge gives satisfaction, but…” While the caption leaves the thought unfinished, the posters make one thing clear: Kamal Haasan is preparing to enter another intense cinematic battle.
The newly released posters present Kamal Haasan in a rugged and intimidating look, holding revolvers and appearing ready for a dangerous confrontation. The visual treatment suggests a gritty action drama built around revenge, violence and powerful characters. The phrase “6 ROUNDS, ZERO MERCY” has particularly caught the attention of fans, creating curiosity about the significance of the six rounds and the story behind the film's central conflict. Rather than revealing too much about the plot, the makers have chosen to introduce the film through a striking visual statement. With principal photography beginning on the actor's birthday, Sandiyar has officially moved into its next major phase.
The film brings together Kamal Haasan and filmmaker S U Arun Kumar, who is directing the project. It marks another significant collaboration for the actor following Thug Life. The project is produced under the banners of Raaj Kamal Films International and Turmeric Media, with R Mahendran associated with the production. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while celebrated action choreography duo Anbariv will handle the film's stunts. The combination of Kamal Haasan's screen presence, Arun Kumar's direction, Anirudh's music and Anbariv's action choreography has already made the project an exciting prospect for Tamil cinema fans.
Interestingly, the title Sandiyar carries a connection to Kamal Haasan's cinematic history. The actor had originally planned to use the same title for his 2004 film, which eventually reached audiences as Virumaandi following controversy surrounding the original title. Its return for this new project gives the name an additional layer of significance, especially for longtime fans familiar with that chapter of his career. However, the upcoming film is a separate project, bringing together a new creative team and a fresh story. The title's return has naturally added another talking point to the birthday announcement.
Turmeric Media's social media post also acknowledged the film's key collaborators, including Kamal Haasan, S U Arun Kumar, R Mahendran, Anirudh Ravichander, Anbariv, cinematographer Sunil KS, production designer Amritha Ram and several other members of the technical team. The birthday greeting and shooting announcement were combined into one celebratory message, turning the occasion into a major update for fans. The posters have also helped establish the film's aggressive tone, with the revolvers and intense styling suggesting that audiences can expect a powerful action-oriented performance from the veteran actor.
With shooting now underway, Sandiyar is beginning its journey towards the big screen with considerable excitement surrounding it. The film's title, dramatic first-look visuals and impressive technical team have already created plenty of discussion among fans. Kamal Haasan continues to explore challenging characters and different cinematic worlds, and this latest collaboration promises another intriguing addition to his filmography. The makers have kept the story largely under wraps, but the message “6 ROUNDS, ZERO MERCY” has certainly set the mood. As the cameras begin rolling, fans will be waiting eagerly for more updates from the sets of Sandiyar.
