Amid mounting speculation and social media outrage over his involvement in the upcoming war drama Border 2, Diljit Dosanjh has officially set the record straight: he is not being replaced. The singer-actor, who faced heavy backlash following the overseas release of Sardaar Ji 3—a film co-starring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir—has now put all replacement rumours to rest with a behind-the-scenes video from the Border 2 set.
Ever since Sardaar Ji 3’s trailer dropped on June 22 and news broke about Pakistani talent being part of the cast, Diljit Dosanjh found himself in the eye of a political and cultural storm. Calls for his removal from Border 2 intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a strongly worded letter urging co-star Sunny Deol to reconsider his association with the film.
This pressure stemmed largely from nationalist sentiments in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. The release of Sardaar Ji 3 overseas—albeit not in India—was seen by some as insensitive in the current climate.
In a decisive move to shut down the buzz, Diljit shared a video on Instagram from the Border 2 shooting location. Clad in an Indian Army uniform-inspired suit, he is seen stepping out of his vanity van and walking onto a lively set, with the iconic Border track "Ke Ghar Kab Aaoge" playing in the background. The post was simply captioned: “BORDER 2.”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is the long-awaited sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 war classic. Alongside Diljit Dosanjh, the film features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in key roles. Currently filming in Pune, the project is scheduled for a Republic Day weekend release on January 23, 2026.
In a climate where art and politics often collide, Diljit Dosanjh’s calm and clear rebuttal stands as a reminder that not all noise deserves a reaction. With production in full swing and support pouring in, it’s safe to say: Diljit is not going anywhere—Border 2 will feature him as planned.
