Bollywood celebrities came together in Mumbai for a special screening of Udta Teer, the upcoming spy comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. Sanya Malhotra, Saba Ali Khan Pataudi, Sharib Hashmi, Rahul Dev, Mugdha Godse, Shreya Chaudhary, Varun Sood and Harleen Sethi were among the personalities who attended the special event. Producer Karan Johar and several other members of the entertainment industry also turned up to show their support as the film prepared for its theatrical release on October 23, 2026. The screening created plenty of excitement around the film, which combines espionage, humour and an unusual India Pakistan storyline.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, who lead the film, were among the major attractions at the screening. The actors have been promoting the project ahead of its big-screen debut, with their fresh pairing drawing attention from movie enthusiasts. The event also saw familiar faces from the film fraternity gathering to watch the highly anticipated entertainer. According to media coverage of the evening, Ayushmann's brother Aparshakti Khurrana and Sara's brother Ibrahim Ali Khan were also spotted at the screening.

Udta Teer follows a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after an accident and begins believing that he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer. As his identity and loyalties become tangled, the unusual situation creates opportunities for action, confusion and comedy. The story takes the familiar spy-thriller setup in an unexpected direction, using mistaken identity and an unconventional sense of patriotism to drive its humour. With its mix of high-stakes espionage and light-hearted situations, the film aims to offer audiences a different flavour of mainstream Hindi entertainment.

However, the film's journey to theatres has not been without controversy. Nepal has denied permission for public screenings of Udta Teer after its Central Film Censor Board reviewed the film and found that its content fell under restrictions specified in the country's cinema legislation. The decision was communicated to the local distributor ahead of the film's scheduled release. Media reports have linked the issue to the film's sensitive India Pakistan espionage storyline, although the reported decision does not provide a detailed public explanation of the specific content that prompted the restriction.

Despite the international setback, the film remains scheduled for its Indian theatrical release on October 23. The situation has added another talking point to the promotional campaign, placing the spotlight not only on the star cast but also on the challenges that films dealing with politically sensitive subjects can encounter across different markets. For audiences, the combination of an unusual spy premise and a strong ensemble cast has made Udta Teer one of the releases to watch this week.

Directed by Akash A Kaushik, Udta Teer is produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, with Karan Johar among its producers. The film also features the late Mukul Dev in one of his final screen appearances. With the special screening bringing together several familiar Bollywood faces and its theatrical debut just around the corner, anticipation continues to build. Whether the film's blend of comedy and espionage wins over audiences will soon become clear when it reaches cinemas on Friday.
