Vertical has released the official trailer for Bunny, a dark comedy set in the bustling streets of New York City, premiering in select U.S. theaters and on VOD on November 14, 2025. The film made its debut earlier this year at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival in the Narrative Competition, marking the feature directorial debut of actor-filmmaker Ben Jacobson, who also stars alongside Mo Stark, Liza Colby, and Tony Drazan.
Set over a sweltering summer day and night in an East Village tenement, Bunny follows streetwise hustler Bunny and his best friend Dino as they attempt to cover up a dead body — or, as chaos soon reveals, multiple bodies. The two rally their eccentric neighbors, contend with persistent cops, and navigate escalating complications in a race against time.
Described as a darkly comedic urban thriller, the story combines murder, misadventures, and neighborhood quirks into a chaotic yet hilarious night in the city. From party-hungry neighbors to a romantic Airbnb guest and a surprise estranged father, Bunny’s night spirals into a series of mismanaged schemes and laugh-out-loud calamities.
Written by Ben Jacobson, Stefan Marolachakis, and Mo Stark, and produced by Scott Dougan, Stefan Marolachakis, Sarah Sarandos, and Mo Stark, the film balances suspense, comedy, and eccentric New York energy. Its SXSW debut showcased Jacobson’s distinct style, blending quirky characters with fast-paced, high-stakes storytelling.
With its chaotic premise, offbeat humor, and New York City charm, Bunny is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of indie dark comedies this fall, promising a wild, unpredictable ride from start to finish.
