After the phenomenal box-office performance of Border 2, producers Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and Nidhi Dutta of JP Films have officially announced Border 3, taking the iconic war franchise forward. The announcement was made during a success event celebrating the strong theatrical run of the second installment.
Released over the Republic Day weekend, Border 2 opened to an exceptional response at the box office. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film collected 216.79 crore nett in India within its first five days and crossed 288 crore worldwide, emerging as one of the biggest openings for a war film in recent times.
The film stars Sunny Deol in a powerful return to the franchise, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, Border 2 recreates large-scale battle sequences across the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy on a grand production scale.
Audience response has largely praised the film’s patriotic appeal, emotional highs, and Sunny Deol’s legacy-driven presence. However, a section of viewers has pointed out its extended runtime and conventional narrative as areas where the film could have been sharper.
Despite mixed critical feedback, strong word-of-mouth continues to drive steady footfalls across centres. Trade analysts expect Border 2 to comfortably head toward the 300 crore mark worldwide, further reinforcing the franchise’s commercial pull.
