Actor Shubhangi Dutt, along with filmmaker-actor Anupam Kher, graced the Jagran Film Festival where their film Tanvi The Great was screened for a selected audience, including a special group of specially abled children. The screening received an emotional response, with many praising the film’s heartfelt storytelling and Shubhangi’s sensitive, compelling performance.
Following the screening, Shubhangi was asked about frequent comparisons between her role and Priyanka Chopra’s performance in Barfi. Responding with humility, she said, “Being compared to Priyanka Chopra is a great thing, I think she is representing all of us globally, and I really look up to her because I think she has it all. Every time she appears on the screen, be it cinema, tv or phone, all I think of is wow, because she is so phenomenal, and someone to compare me with her, it’s very humbling, and I am just filled with gratitude. It’s amazing.” Her words reflected her admiration for Priyanka while showcasing her own grounded approach to fame and recognition.
In the film, Shubhangi plays Tanvi Raina, a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum who lives with her mother Vidya and grandfather, Colonel Pratap Raina. Inspired by her late father, Captain Samar Raina, Tanvi dreams of joining the Indian Army and saluting the flag at Siachen—a dream her father once cherished. Her journey of resilience, determination, and emotional strength forms the core of the story, and critics have already noted Shubhangi’s performance as one of the year’s most heartfelt portrayals.
