Veteran South actress Khushbu Sundar is returning to Hindi cinema with the upcoming Amazon Prime Video release “Subedaar,” marking a much-anticipated comeback.
Speaking about what drew her back to Bollywood, Khushbu said: "You want a very honest answer? Well, if I'm honest, he's not going to get me into trouble. The first attraction was, of course, Mr. Anil Kapoor. All right. I've known Anil ji. I don't know for how many years, I think more than 40 years, Anil ji. And I think the bond that has been there over all these years, two I've moved to South. I think the respect for him has grown and leaps and bounds over all these years, the kind of work he has done. His body language and the legacy that he takes forward as an actor as a person."
She further added: "So, he was the first attraction, and of course, the second was the man next to me, Suresh Triveni, ah because he's one director who I think brings out the best when it comes to the characters, especially the women characters. And you will see that in Subedaar. So, it's great for me. I am not going to say much about what, after watching the trailer you must have got to know that the name is Sudha Rani but what she does in the film, what she means to Shyama and Arjun, you will get to know after watching it, so rather than revealing anything I would say that it is definitely an honour and privilege to be a part of such a huge project and coming back to Mumbai after I don't know how many years and then doing this and being here on this platform definitely would feel very privileged and happy."
Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar stars Anil Kapoor in the titular role, alongside Radhikka Madan, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Mona Singh, and Faisal Malik. The film follows Subedaar Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier struggling to adapt to civilian life in a rapidly changing world. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Madhya Pradesh, the story explores Arjun’s battle against local corruption and societal dysfunction, while also attempting to mend his fractured relationship with his daughter, Shyama.
As Arjun confronts enemies within his community, he must rely on the discipline and combat skills honed during his military service to protect his family and uphold justice. The film promises a compelling mix of high-octane action, emotional depth, and heartfelt father-daughter dynamics.
Produced by Abundantia Entertainment, Opening Image Films, and Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network, Subedaar is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 5 March 2026, offering viewers a perfect blend of thrills, emotion, and powerhouse performances from Bollywood veterans and rising stars alike.
