At the teaser launch of Dacoit, actor and writer Adivi Sesh spoke with warmth and conviction about what the film represents to him—not just as a project, but as an emotional and creative journey. Calling it a truly collaborative effort, Sesh expressed his happiness at bringing what he described as a “proper Hindi film” to audiences.
“This has been a beautiful collaborative effort, and I’m very happy that we’ve made a proper Hindi film and brought it to you,” he said. “It feels very special.” In an era where audiences are constantly flooded with content reels, songs, and short videos throughout the day Sesh emphasized that Dacoit holds a deeper personal value for him. “If you think from the audience’s point of view, there is content coming on your phone all day long—someone is making reels, someone is releasing a song, someone else a short video. All I want to say is that this film means a lot to me. The kind of passion we’ve put into it and the excitement we’re getting for our scenes has been truly rewarding.”
Speaking about working with Anurag Kashyap, Sesh highlighted the contrast in their filmmaking styles. “Anurag sir’s format of shooting is very different from ours. In the beginning, he would wonder why we were shooting so much. But once he saw the results, there was a beautiful excitement in his voice.”
For Sesh, Dacoit has always been a passion-driven film.“This film is a passionate project for us,” he said.
Elaborating on his personal approach, Sesh revealed that the emotional core of the story was his biggest priority. “Everyone has their own approach. For me, Dacoit is a film built on emotion. When you’re watching an emotional scene, you should connect to it in a way that makes you feel it’s your own. That’s why it was very important for me that the story is rooted in local flavour.” He also spoke about the intricate differences between Telugu and Hindi storytelling. “There are many small details. Sometimes, in Telugu, a punch line comes at the beginning of a scene, but in Hindi, the punch line often comes at the end. These are very intricate things. It’s not always about money—it’s also about creative satisfaction. I genuinely wanted us to make an authentic Hindi film.”
Sesh also shared his admiration for filmmaker Aditya Dhar, calling him a close friend with an extraordinary value system. Reflecting on Dhar’s recent work, he said, “I had done a lot of research on 26/11 earlier, but understanding the Pakistan side of things was a completely new experience for me. I felt it was an extraordinary film and that it truly deserved to be India’s biggest film at the moment. I’m very proud that audiences are watching it. It’s a proper word-of-mouth hit—people are genuinely going to theatres.”
Dacoit is an upcoming Indian action-thriller starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. Directed by Shaneil Deo, the film is a Hindi–Telugu bilingual and features an ensemble cast that includes Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Sunil. Sesh has also co-written the script. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2026.
