Abramorama has unveiled the official trailer for Wisdom of Happiness, an inspiring new documentary centered around the Dalai Lama and his timeless message of compassion, peace, and resilience. The film, which first premiered at the Zurich Film Festival in 2024 and later screened at the Dharamshala Film Festival in India, will now open in select U.S. theaters on October 16, 2025, honoring the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday.
Described as a rare, cinematic audience with the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Wisdom of Happiness reflects on profound truths at a time when the world faces mounting chaos and uncertainty. The Dalai Lama speaks of unity—“Brothers and sisters of this small planet – we are same human beings”—reminding viewers that happiness is possible even amid global crises. He presses urgent issues such as climate change while underlining the transformative power of kindness, love, and compassion as guiding principles for humanity.
The project is backed by Executive Producers Richard Gere and Oren Moverman. Gere emphasized how watching the Dalai Lama “embody love, generosity, and kindness” creates a real and achievable opportunity for audiences to reconnect with themselves and with others. Co-directed by documentary filmmakers Philip Delaquis and Barbara Miller, both known for their works Forbidden Voices and #Female Pleasure, the film combines intimate conversations, reflective moments, and personal insights from the spiritual leader. Delaquis also produced the project, which was initiated by Walo Kamm.
