The much-loved Tamil comedy franchise Tamizh Padam is all set to return with another dose of laughter, unexpected twists and hilarious film industry references. Y Not Studios has officially announced that the shooting of Tamizh Padam 3 has begun, raising excitement among fans who have been waiting to see what the makers have planned this time. Sharing the announcement on social media on November 5, the production house confirmed that actor Shiva and Athulya will lead the upcoming comedy entertainer. With the film now entering production, the latest instalment promises to take the franchise's signature style of parody to a completely new level.
The announcement was accompanied by an intriguing teaser poster that immediately caught attention. Featuring Shiva as an "Intergalactic Superstar", the poster shows him facing a gigantic alien spaceship against a beachside backdrop. The unusual visual hints at a science-fiction-inspired storyline and gives fans an idea of the madness that could be waiting for them. The makers have also teased an "Alien Athiyayam" spoof, suggesting that Tamizh Padam 3 could take playful aim at the growing popularity of alien adventures and big-budget science-fiction films. If the poster is anything to go by, the franchise is preparing to explore a completely different cinematic universe while keeping its comedy roots intact.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Tamizh Padam has earned a special place in Tamil cinema through its fearless approach to parody. Rather than following conventional comedy formulas, the films take familiar scenes, exaggerated hero introductions, dramatic action sequences and popular movie clichés and turn them into laugh-out-loud moments. The series has built its identity by poking fun at the very conventions that audiences love watching on screen. This unique approach has helped it develop a loyal following, making the announcement of a third instalment particularly exciting for comedy lovers.
Actor Shiva, who has been closely associated with the franchise, returns to headline the new film. Known for his distinctive comic timing and effortless screen presence, Shiva has become one of the recognisable faces of Tamil parody entertainment. His return as the central character is an important part of what makes Tamizh Padam 3 interesting. Athulya will also be part of the cast, adding another exciting element to the project. While the makers have kept several story details under wraps, the combination of Shiva's comedy style and the film's unusual alien-themed teaser has already created plenty of curiosity.
The upcoming film is written and directed by C.S. Amudhan, who is returning to the creative world that made the Tamizh Padam franchise popular. His understanding of Tamil cinema references and ability to turn familiar film moments into clever comedy have been central to the series' appeal. Tamizh Padam 3 is produced by S. Sashikanth and Chakravarthy Ramachandra under the banners of Y Not Studios and API Films. With the production team officially announcing the beginning of shooting, more updates about the cast, characters, promotional material and release plans are expected as the project progresses.
The biggest question now is just how far the makers will go with their latest parody adventure. From over-the-top superhero moments to dramatic space battles and alien encounters, Tamil cinema offers plenty of material for a film like this to play around with. The "Intergalactic Superstar" look suggests that Shiva's character could be at the centre of some wonderfully ridiculous situations. While audiences will have to wait for more details to discover the actual storyline, the start of filming is already a promising development. With its familiar comic identity and a fresh science-fiction twist, Tamizh Padam 3 has all the ingredients to become one of the most entertaining upcoming Tamil comedy films.
