Quiver Distribution has unveiled the first official trailer for Eternal Return, a sweeping romantic fantasy drama that blends science fiction, time travel and the timeless search for love. Written and directed by filmmaker Yaniv Raz, the upcoming film promises a visually imaginative and emotionally captivating journey, led by Naomi Scott, Kit Harington and Simon Callow. Described as visually innovative and intoxicatingly romantic, the film explores whether travelling through time can help someone rediscover the feelings they have lost and open their heart to love once again.
The story centres on Cass, played by Naomi Scott, a young woman who has reached a point in her life where she has become emotionally invulnerable. Having seemingly resigned herself to a future without love, Cass is no longer looking for romance or expecting it to change her world. However, everything begins to shift when she meets Virgil, portrayed by Kit Harington, on her 29th birthday. Virgil is no ordinary stranger. He is an enigmatic cartographer and mapmaker who charts journeys to imaginary places, bringing an unusual sense of mystery and possibility into Cass's otherwise closed-off world.
Virgil's arrival introduces Cass to an extraordinary adventure that challenges her understanding of love, time and human connection. Alongside Virgil is his partner-in-crime, Malcolm, played by veteran actor Simon Callow. Driven by a relentless desire to travel back in time, Malcolm becomes an important part of the journey that could change Cass's life. Together, the unlikely trio sets out to explore the possibility of returning to the past, hoping to awaken something within Cass that she believed was lost forever. Their journey is not simply about reaching another point in time but about rediscovering the emotions that make love meaningful.
The first official trailer offers a glimpse into the film's imaginative world, where fantasy and science fiction meet an intimate romantic story. Its central concept gives the narrative an intriguing emotional angle: can a journey through time help someone overcome emotional barriers and learn to love again? Rather than presenting time travel merely as an adventure, Eternal Return appears to use it as a way of exploring memory, vulnerability and the possibility of second chances. The relationship between Cass and Virgil, along with Malcolm's involvement in their unusual mission, forms the heart of this fantastical journey.
Alongside its leading trio, the film features Sonoya Mizuno, Jay Lycurgo and Simon Kunz in supporting roles. With Naomi Scott taking on the role of Cass and Kit Harington stepping into the character of Virgil, the film brings together performers from different corners of the entertainment world for a story that combines romance with an imaginative science-fiction premise. Simon Callow's presence as Malcolm adds another distinctive element to the ensemble, particularly as his character's determination helps set the time-travelling adventure in motion.
Written and directed by Yaniv Raz, Eternal Return is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 5, 2026. With its first trailer introducing a story about love, time and emotional rediscovery, the film is shaping up as an intriguing option for audiences who enjoy romantic dramas with a fantastical twist. As Cass, Virgil and Malcolm embark on their extraordinary journey, the biggest question is whether the past holds the key to finding love again—or whether some feelings must be discovered in the present.
