Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan visited veteran actor Dharmendra at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Monday, where the legendary actor is reportedly undergoing treatment for breathing difficulties. Accompanying Shah Rukh was his elder son, Aryan Khan, as they paid their respects to the veteran star.
Earlier, on Saturday evening, Dharmendra’s sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, had visited him at the hospital. Another Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, was also seen arriving with heavy security to meet the ailing actor. Dharmendra, who was reportedly placed on a ventilator, has remained one of Bollywood’s most enduring and beloved stars over the decades.
Born in 1935 in Sahnewal, Punjab, Dharmendra began his film career after winning a nationwide talent hunt organized by Filmfare magazine in collaboration with Bimal Roy Productions in 1958. His striking looks and natural charm won him the contest, opening the doors to Hindi cinema. This same competition later discovered Rajesh Khanna, another iconic Bollywood superstar.
Dharmendra quickly became a household name, thanks to his versatility across romance, action, and comedy. Films like Phool Aur Patthar established him as a leading man, while Sholay immortalized his portrayal of the lovable, witty Veeru. His comic timing in Chupke Chupke and his heroic presence in action-packed dramas like Yaadon Ki Baaraat further cemented his legendary status. Beyond his filmography, Dharmendra is celebrated for his humility, charisma, and lasting influence on generations of fans and fellow actors alike.
