Adah Sharma has an exciting line-up of projects ahead, and the actress is ready to surprise audiences with characters that go beyond what they have seen her do before. From a quirky female superhero who has absolutely no interest in saving the world to a horror film packed with action and comedy, Adah has plenty to look forward to. During a media interaction on the side-lines of the Jagran Film Festival, the actress opened up about her upcoming projects, her recently wrapped Marathi film and why she considers being associated with horror a compliment rather than a limitation.

When asked about her long list of upcoming films, including a female superhero project and a horror film, Adah appreciated the interviewer for doing their research before sharing some exciting details. Revealing that she had recently wrapped up a Marathi film, she said the project was a surprise she could not disclose much about. However, she did reveal one interesting detail: the film is titled after the character she plays. “Thank you! You've clearly done your research—I really appreciate it when interviewers take the time to look into things. Yes, there is a long list! I just wrapped up a Marathi film—well, actually, it's a bit of a surprise, so I can't reveal too much, but the film is actually titled after my character's name. It was a lot of fun!” Adah said.

The actress then spoke about her upcoming horror film, which promises to combine several genres rather than sticking to conventional horror. Acknowledging that audiences have been waiting to see her in the genre, Adah revealed that the film will feature plenty of scares, action and comedy. “I know people have been waiting for me to do a horror film—well, this one has horror, plenty of action, and comedy, all rolled into one. I can't wait for everyone to see it!” she added.

However, it is Super Valli that sounds particularly unconventional. Describing the superhero character, Adah explained that Valli is nothing like the powerful, confident heroes audiences usually associate with the genre. In fact, the character has no interest in saving anyone and would much rather be left alone. “As for Super Valli—yes, it's a superhero film, but it's completely different from the typical, super-strong, super-talented superheroes who can do anything. Valli is...well, she's essentially useless! She has no interest in working, no desire to save anyone—she just wants to go about her own life. She really doesn't want to do anything at all—she's just that useless!” Adah said, laughing about the unusual premise. She added that the idea of handing the responsibility of saving the world to someone so reluctant makes the film an interesting and entertaining concept.

The conversation also turned to whether audiences expecting to see her in horror films could limit the variety of roles offered to her. Adah, however, sees it differently. She believes that when viewers ask an actor to repeat a particular kind of performance, it is often because a previous role has genuinely connected with them. “I actually see it as a compliment. When a film like 1920 becomes popular, people naturally say, ‘Do another horror movie!’—I take that as a compliment. Similarly, when Commando became popular, people would ask me to do action roles, saying, ‘Please, we want to see you performing martial arts and action sequences!’” she explained.

Adah also spoke about the demands of projects similar to The Kerala Story, noting that they require extensive research and considerable time. She clarified that while her upcoming horror films are not based on real-life subjects, her Marathi project Gajra is based on true incidents. She further mentioned that fans of Sunflower often ask her to play characters like Rosie again, something she also takes as a sign of appreciation. “So, no—I'm actually very happy! It's just the audience showing their love; they enjoy something, so they naturally want to see more of that kind of work,” she concluded.

With Super Valli, a genre-blending horror film and her Marathi projects in the pipeline, Adah Sharma appears ready to explore different sides of her acting. And if her description of Valli is anything to go by, audiences can expect a superhero who might need saving herself before she even considers saving the world.
