Bosco Leslie Martis believes artists need platforms where they can express themselves freely, showcase their talent and stand by their creative choices. At the launch of Begum Bewafa, the choreographer-director spoke candidly about the challenges artists face today, the importance of independent platforms and his belief in giving deserving talent an opportunity to shine. The music launch brought together singer Sonu Nigam, actor Aditya Seal and Bosco at BLM Studios in Veera Desai, Andheri.

Released under the BLM Music label, Begum Bewafa features vocals by Sonu Nigam, an on-screen performance by Aditya Seal and direction by Bosco Leslie Martis. Composed by Vikas Bedi, with lyrics penned by Vishie, the track marks a collaboration between the artists, celebrated at a launch event featuring live dance performances and interactive media sessions.

Speaking at the gathering, Bosco revealed that the venue held a special significance for him, as Begum Bewafa had been shot at the same location. Describing the place as one filled with energy, he spoke about the spiritual connection he felt there and how the project represented something much bigger than a music release.

“Begum Bewafa was shot here, where we are hosting the event. This place is full of energy—I believe there is a spiritual energy here, a spiritual connection,” he said.

Bosco then recalled an incident from his professional journey that highlighted the difficulties emerging artists can face when they are not yet recognised by the industry. He shared how he had once been told not to include Karim in a show because the people involved did not know who he was or what he would bring to the table. Today, Bosco finds himself in a position where he can showcase an artist's talent without having to defend that decision.

“Back in the day, I was once told by a show, ‘Don't include Karim; we don't know who he is or what he'll do.’ But today, I have the opportunity to share this stage with him. I can feature him—showcase his talent—without anyone asking, ‘Why do you want to feature him?’” Bosco said.

For him, this freedom to recognise and support talent is something he strongly believes in. He also acknowledged Sonu Nigam's support, pointing to the singer's own journey through challenges and his ability to emerge victorious. “This is something I truly believe in, and it's something that Sonu is here to support as well. He has fought many battles and emerged as a winner in every single one of them,” he added.

Addressing the difficult climate for artists who want to speak for themselves, Bosco stressed the need to build platforms that encourage independence, confidence and action. “These are challenging times for artists who want to speak for themselves. I believe this is the kind of platform where we can trust in ourselves and take action. That is why BLM Music is doing what it's doing—and we will continue to do so,” he concluded.

Through BLM Music, Bosco hopes to keep creating opportunities for artists to express themselves and bring their talent to the forefront. With Begum Bewafa, the team celebrates not only a new musical collaboration but also the importance of believing in artists before the rest of the world catches up.
