Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali delivered an emotional message of love, unity, and remembrance as Main Vaapas Aaunga marked a historic milestone at the Attari Border Post. The event saw music legend A.R. Rahman perform live at the iconic location for the first time, transforming the famous Beating Retreat Ceremony into a moving celebration of patriotism and human connection.

Held at the JCP Stadium, Jai Ho – A Musical Salute to the Bravehearts brought together thousands of spectators who gathered to honor the Border Security Force and India’s armed forces. The event carried deep emotional significance for Main Vaapas Aaunga, a film set against the backdrop of the Partition of India. Drawing inspiration from real stories of displacement and separation, the film explores how love survives even after decades of loss and heartbreak.

Addressing the audience, Imtiaz Ali reflected on the unique nature of the occasion. “This performance is an ode to the national spirit, to our bravehearts on the border, the BSF and the Indian Army, and to the spirit of solidarity and love that binds us all,” he said. The filmmaker added that it was magical to celebrate the film at a place connected to the very history that inspired its story. Speaking about the Partition, Ali noted that beyond homes and lives, countless hearts were broken, and that the film ultimately carries a message that love is what sustains humanity.

The evening began with Ali, Ananya Birla of Birla Studios, actor Vedang Raina, and producer Mohit Choudhary welcoming guests and thanking the BSF. The film’s music album was dedicated to the sacrifice and courage of Indian armed forces personnel before A.R. Rahman took the stage. The musical journey featured Chanda Suraj Lakhon Taare, Maskara by Nilanjana Ghosh and Vedang Raina, Ishq Mastana by Mohit Chauhan, Pooja Tiwari and Nargis, along with other songs from the film, culminating in the powerful rendition of Maa Tujhe Salaam.

Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. The film features music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment alongside Window Seat Films' Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar, the film is set for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026, while its music will be released through Tips Music.
