Filmmaker Radhik Bansal has stepped into the world of feature films with Meethe Mein Kya Hai, a multigenerational family drama that brings together a lively mix of characters, relationships and emotions. Taking on the responsibilities of writing, directing and producing her debut feature was no small task, especially with so many characters sharing the screen. However, Radhik revealed that what initially appeared to be a simple story about a family turned out to be a much bigger directorial challenge. Interestingly, it was her lack of fear that helped her navigate the experience.

During a conversation about managing the complexity of the film, Radhik recalled how she initially believed that directing a family drama set inside a home would be relatively straightforward. She said, “When I first started, I honestly didn’t realize that this wasn’t an easy film to direct. I kept insisting, ‘But it’s a simple film—it’s just about a family, set within a home!’” It was only after repeatedly describing the project this way that someone pointed out the actual challenge: having nearly ten characters in every single scene. Suddenly, the scale of the responsibility became clearer.

Despite the complexity, Radhik believes that not being intimidated by the task worked in her favour. Reflecting on the experience, she explained, “I managed to pull it off because I wasn’t scared or intimidated; I simply didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Often, it’s fear that holds you back. Sometimes, things aren’t as difficult as you imagine them to be in your head.” Her perspective highlights how taking the first step without being overwhelmed by the challenges can sometimes make an ambitious creative journey possible.

Radhik also credited her team and the cast for making the filmmaking process smoother. Once she began putting the pieces together, she found herself surrounded by talented collaborators who helped bring her vision to life. The film features veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi, Ayesha Raza and Ritwik Bhowmik, among others. Looking back, Radhik said that people often ask whether managing such a large ensemble must have been incredibly difficult. However, her own experience was quite different. “I was lucky, though—once I began the work, built my team, and brought on such an incredible cast—an absolutely brilliant cast—everything just became easier,” she shared, adding that everything seemed to fall into place.

Interestingly, Radhik's journey into filmmaking came after a career in the corporate world. A former professional associated with Goldman Sachs and Harvard Business Publishing, she eventually decided to pursue her passion for cinema full-time. Before making her feature directorial debut, she gained experience as a line producer and creative producer on short films and independent projects, including Anokhi (2025), which raises awareness about domestic violence, In My Shoes (2024) and Jasmine Flowers (2025). These experiences helped her develop an understanding of different aspects of film production.

Meethe Mein Kya Hai marks an important milestone in Radhik's filmmaking journey. The multigenerational Diwali family drama features music by acclaimed composer Amit Trivedi and premiered on Netflix on October 30, 2026. With its focus on family relationships and the many personalities that make a household, the film brings together an ensemble cast and an intimate setting. For Radhik, the debut is also a reminder that sometimes the biggest creative challenges become manageable when one trusts the process, builds the right team and does not allow fear to take over.
