The reported demise of filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has sent shockwaves across the Hindi film industry, with several members of the film fraternity expressing grief and remembering the director for his passion for cinema and larger-than-life personality. Known for films such as Kaante, Aatish: Feel the Fire and Shootout at Wadala, Gupta had built a distinct identity in Bollywood through his stylish approach to action and crime dramas. As news of his passing spread, friends and industry colleagues took to social media to share heartfelt messages.

Actor and film critic Kamaal R Khan shared an emotional tribute, revealing that he and Gupta had been in regular touch and frequently discussed films and Bollywood. Remembering their conversations, he wrote, “RIP Sanjay Bhai. I can’t believe that you have left. We were talking almost every 2nd day about films and Bollywood. You were aware about everything so much. I love you Sanjay and I will miss you everyday bro.” His words reflected the personal bond they shared and the shock of losing someone he spoke to so frequently.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also expressed disbelief over the news, remembering Gupta as a dear friend and a passionate filmmaker. In his post, Pandit revealed that Gupta had reportedly suffered a head injury at home. He wrote, “It’s really shocking and sad. Just got the news that our dear friend an ace director @_sanjaygupta is no more. He passed due to a head injury at home.” He went on to describe Gupta as a wonderful narrator with a lively personality, adding that his absence would be deeply felt across the industry. Director Rahul Dholakia also remembered Gupta, highlighting his distinctive filmmaking style and contribution to the way films were presented and promoted. Although he had met Gupta only once, a long time ago, Dholakia recalled him as a stylish filmmaker who was perhaps among the first to use trailers and cut promos to pitch film ideas to actors and distributors. Sharing his appreciation, Dholakia named Kaante as his favourite film from Gupta’s filmography.

Dholakia also added a nostalgic touch to his tribute by referring to the song “Cigarette Ke Dhuen” and recalling how it was a favourite at parties. His message ended with an emotional farewell: “Gone too soon Gupts!” The post offered another glimpse into the filmmaker’s influence, not just through his movies but also through the memories associated with his work.

As tributes continue to emerge, Sanjay Gupta is being remembered for his distinctive cinematic style, his love for storytelling and the relationships he built over the years.
