It’s time to crank up the nostalgia dial because both the movie Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa and its iconic title track just turned 25 years old – and yes, we’re officially ancient now. Released on August 18, 2000, the film may not have been a blockbuster, but boy did it give us one of the most deliciously dramatic love triangles and a title song that still slaps harder than your WiFi bill.

Let’s set the scene: Pooja (played by Keerthi Reddy in peak chiffon-sari realness) visits Agra, meets Kabir (a moody artist played by a baby-faced Abhishek Bachchan), and sparks fly – well, mostly for him. She’s more into his art than his abs. Back home, she falls for Raj (Sanjay Suri, aka the certified office heartthrob), but—plot twist!—to save her job, she pretends she’s engaged to Kabir. Because apparently, fake engagements are better than late log-ins. This kicks off a full-blown drama sesh where hearts are confused, eyebrows are raised, and Johnny Lever is... Johnny Lever-ing.

The film may not have broken box office records, but the soundtrack? Certified banger territory. With 18 lakh units sold, the album was the 10th highest-selling that year. And the title track, sung by Sonu Nigam and Chitra, composed by Ismail Darbar, is still the kind of song you low-key play when you're pretend-dancing with wind machines in your bedroom. Admit it — that "Teraaa jadoo chal gayaaa…" hits differently when you're feeling romantic and mildly dramatic.

Also, let’s not forget this cast was STACKED: Kader Khan as the grumpy boss, Paresh Rawal as the loudmouth uncle, Johnny Lever being a sidekick named Maggie (yes, really), Farida Jalal doing peak Bollywood mom things, and even a cameo from the beloved Ghanashyam Nayak (Natukaka from TMKOC).

Basically, the ‘Who’s Who’ of early-2000s character actors were all in this quirky love-fest.

So even if the film didn’t win trophies, it definitely won our hearts with its over-the-top premise, twirling duppattas, and one seriously addictive love anthem. Here’s raising a metaphorical champagne glass (or chai cup) to 25 years of Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa — the film that may have lied for love, but left us singing the truth for decades.
