The much-awaited trailer for Kaantha, an upcoming Tamil-language period drama thriller, has finally been released. The announcement was made by Wayfarer Films with a heartfelt note of gratitude to actor Silambarasan TR for digitally launching the trailer. Sharing the news on social media, the production house wrote, “We’re beaming with joy! Our heartfelt thanks to @SilambarasanTR_ for digitally launching Kaantha trailer! Trailer out now! Kaantha releasing on 14th November.”
Directed and co-written by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha stars Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse in lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their respective banners, Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films. Inspired by the life of legendary Tamil actor-singer M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, the film blends history, emotion, and artistic rivalry into a deeply layered cinematic experience.
Set in the 1950s Madras, Kaantha traces the story of Ayya, a celebrated director in the Tamil film industry, and his turbulent friendship with Chandran, a movie star whose fame he helped create. Their bond begins to unravel when Chandran renames a female-centric film originally titled Shaantha to suit his own persona, rechristening it Kaantha. This decision sets off a series of conflicts that explore ego, artistry, and the price of ambition.
With striking period visuals, haunting music, and powerful performances, the trailer offers a glimpse into a world of cinema’s golden age, where art and pride collide. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 14, 2025, coinciding with Children’s Day, and will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
