Speaking about his loss, Shashi Ranjan expressed profound grief and disbelief: “It is a huge shock for me. I was in acting institute with him; we have been friends for 40–45 years. Even after his surgery, we spoke almost every day, and now to get the sudden news about his demise, I am little lost right now. I don’t know how to express it. When you lose someone who has been your friend for 40–50 years, it’s really painful.”
Ranjan and Shah’s bond began during their days at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), a place that produced some of India’s most respected performers.
